About
SHIRO & Co.
Real Estate × Brand × Strategy
Real Estate × Brand × Strategy
The Folklore of Generated Things × Field × Protocol
We design value, before it becomes visible.
SHIRO & Co. is a small design firm for meaning, context, and quiet forms of value.
We work across real estate, brand strategy, marketing, communication design,
AI-era decision systems, local communities, and publishing experiments.
Less noise.
More intent.
We believe good design and strategy should feel inevitable — not loud.
Kosuke Shirako
Kosuke Shiro is a Boundary Designer whose work spans folklore in the AI era, decision-making, archiving, regional communities, expression, branding, and protocol design.
Through SHIRO & Co., he explores what humans should observe, what they should suspend, what they should archive, and how they should connect these to institutions and culture in an era where generative AI is permeating society.
His current projects include "Field," which archives daily life, regions, AI-generated things, virtual worlds, sounds, photographs, and styles;
"Trust OS," designed to prevent rushed judgments;
"Decision Stack," which structures decision-making;
"Meaning Layer," which records meaning; and
"Protocol Publishing," which shares thoughts before they are bound into books.
I do not seek to present grand answers to society.
Rather, in an era where answers are demanded too quickly, I wish to archive the overlooked fragments and the unspoken discomforts that have not yet been put into words.
Rather than seeking to exert influence, creating a place to be referenced.
Rather than making assertions, leaving behind words that allow us to pause.
The activities of SHIRO & Co. begin from there.
What I Do
Kosuke Protocol
Kosuke Protocol is the fundamental methodology for Kosuke Shiro's daily observation, archiving, editing, decision-making, and publishing.
It is not a transparent, neutral system.
Rather, it is a protocol that embraces my own personal biases.
What catches my attention?
What do I gather, and what do I leave behind?
Which incongruities do I keep, and which fragments do I let rest?
When do I withhold judgment, and when do I publish?
Kosuke Protocol is the personal OS that supports this continuous series of choices.
At its core lies a refusal to design "coincidence" or "serendipity."
Serendipity cannot be engineered by intent.
However, we can prepare the conditions that allow serendipity to occur.
A fragment gathered during a morning walk.
A memory left behind on an old device.
An image floating through a social media feed.
A brief conversation exchanged at a local shop.
The sensation lingering in the body after listening to music.
A subtle incongruity a human suddenly senses toward an AI-generated thing.
Without rushing to assign meaning, these are temporarily preserved, arranged, allowed to rest, and connected with other fragments.
From there, the Field, Thought Cache, Trust OS, Decision Stack, Meaning Layer, and Protocol Publishing begin to emerge.
Before it is the name of a product, Kosuke Protocol is my own stance of observation.
In the age of AI, how do humans perceive the world, what do they preserve, where do they pause, and how do they return their words to society?
This is an unfinished, biased, yet sustainable protocol designed for just that.
Field
Field is a folklore archive that records thoughts before they are forgotten in the age of generative AI, fragments of everyday life, local memories, AI-generated things, and human interpretations.
It is not merely a medium, a blog, or a database.
It is a place to observe what caught human attention, what humans perceived as meaning, and what humans endeavored to leave behind.
In Field, we record daily fragments through various entry points such as Sound, Image, Game, Style, Local, and Works.
What remains in the body after listening to music.
The sense of an era that emerges within photographs and images.
The meaning people read into virtual worlds like Roblox and BUD.
The style that resides in clothing, bodies, daily life, shops, streets, and regions.
Expressions continuing outside the realm of business cards and small makers.
Field exists not to "sell" them, but to "preserve" them.
Thought Cache
Thought Cache is a thought preservation tool that precedes the Field.
The friction, questions, memories, and fragments of daily life we pick up do not immediately become essays or conclusions.
Most of them remain, as of yet, unnamed.
It is too early to publish them, yet too precious to let them fade away.
Thought Cache is a place to temporarily preserve these fragments, to later transform them into the Field, Essay, or Book.
Thoughts are not complete from the very beginning.
They are gathered, left to rest, connected with other fragments, and only then do they finally take shape.
Thought Cache is a system designed to protect that time in between.
Trust OS is a philosophy and protocol designed to resist rushed judgment in the age of AI.
AI delivers answers rapidly.
Yet, the answers human society truly requires are not always the ones arrived at most swiftly.
Healthcare, public administration, education, corporations, communities, and families—
within each of these realms exist matters that must not be decided in haste.
There are judgments that demand we pause, read the context, weigh multiple interpretations, and hold.
Trust OS does not treat decision-making as a binary choice between "proceed" or "stop"; instead, it accommodates the stance of the HOLD.
To HOLD is not to abandon judgment.
It is the active decision not to decide just yet.
We believe that what is required in the age of AI is not the automation of everything, but rather the deliberate design of where humans ought to pause.
Decision Stack
Decision Stack is an architecture designed to structure decision-making in the age of AI.
In an era where AI processes information, generates recommendations, and assists in judgment, the question is not merely "what did the AI output?"
Why does that particular touchpoint matter?
Which inquiry lies at the core?
What interpretations are possible?
Should we move forward now, or should we pause?
And can the rationale behind these judgments be shared, verified, and reinterpreted afterward?
Decision Stack is a conceptual framework for structuring the context of judgment—which is so often lost—across various settings, including sales, exhibitions, public administration, healthcare, and corporate decision-making.
This is not a matter of mere efficiency.
It is an endeavor to protect, expand, and connect human judgment to society in the age of AI.
Meaning Layer
The Meaning Layer is a meta-layer that records the significance emerging within virtual worlds, experiential content, event venues, conversations, and expressions,
structured as units of inquiry and interpretation.
On today's internet, experiences drift down feeds, are rated, shared, and ultimately forgotten.
However, the conversations held in experiential worlds and events, subtle expressions, and local activities hold a level of meaning that cannot be measured by mere metrics or reactions.
The Meaning Layer records these moments by asking "Why does this exist?", "What is it questioning?", and "How did people interpret it?"
The goal is not to arrive at a single correct answer.
It is to preserve the branching of interpretations themselves, rather than seeking consensus.
To achieve this, the Meaning Layer also embraces the posture of HOLD.
Do not evaluate immediately.
Do not consume immediately.
Do not judge immediately.
This is a layer designed to work with meaning while it is still in a state of flux.
Protocol Publishing
Protocol Publishing is a publishing protocol designed to share thoughts before they become books.
Rather than offering finished conclusions alone, it records the process itself: how questions arise, fragments gather, hypotheses form,
and connect to other contexts.
book.shiroand.io is a place dedicated to this practice.
The writing found here does not represent a completed book.
Yet, while it has not yet taken the form of a book, it already belongs within one.
Fragments observed in the Field.
Questions saved in the Thought Cache.
Reflections structured as Trust OS and Decision Stack.
Small occurrences encountered in daily life and local communities.
These hold the potential to eventually transform into a single book, or perhaps many.
Background
Kosuke Shirako has been involved in B2B marketing, PR, branding, and business development for over 20 years.
He has worked in marketing and business development for companies across telecommunications, semiconductors, IT, industrial equipment, and data intelligence,
including NTT, JCOM, Spansion (AMD), LINE WORKS, Rakuten, Advantech, and TÜV SÜD.
After graduating from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Waseda University, he studied communication at USC Annenberg in the United States.
Since then, he has continuously explored how to design the intersections of corporate language, brands, technology, regions, and society.
Currently, through SHIRO & Co., he active in fields centering on decision-making, sense-making, documentation, archiving, local community support,
and protocol design in the age of AI.
Real Estate, Brand, and Quiet Value
SHIRO & Co. is a small firm that began in the realms of real estate, branding, and strategy.
Real estate is more than just land and buildings.
It encompasses time, memory, livelihood, inheritance, community, family, management, and maintenance.
Branding is not an ornament designed to stand out.
It is about giving outline to value that is not yet visible, creating a state where it is naturally understood.
Strategy is not about speaking of the future with a loud voice.
It is about deciding what not to do, choosing what to leave behind, and quietly constructing a structure designed to endure.
Without haste or fanfare, SHIRO & Co. designs these subtle, unseen values.
Local and Small Works
At SHIRO & Co., we also engage in activities that put the value of small local businesses and creators into words.
In "PR that doesn't sell," we focus not on short-term sales promotion or media exposure, but on articulating the creator's background, thoughts, and the daily context surrounding their products,
aiming to establish natural points of connection with local areas and consumers.
Our initiatives with Toranoko Western Confectionery Shop, BELLISSIMA, and others serve as real-world examples on the Field side.
What exists there is not merely a product introduction.
How a small shop weaves itself into the landscape of a town.
How a brand connects with sensory experiences of body and life.
How the tangible warmth of the maker reaches society.
Documenting these things before any selling occurs.
That, too, is the work of Field.
Media and Public Activities
The activities of SHIRO & Co. are gradually beginning to open up to the outside world
through press releases on PR TIMES, radio appearances, book interviews, and other media.
On the Kanazawa Seaside FM program "Shacho! Anata no Kaisha Oshiete Kudasai" (President! Tell Us About Your Company), SHIRO & Co.’s activities were described as those of a "Business DJ."
We discussed our efforts to sample-mix market, business, and regional activities, re-editing and delivering them within new language and contexts.
We also shared our views on acting as a "Boundary Designer,"
designing the boundaries for human judgment, trust, and knowing when to pause in the age of AI.
Book in Progress
Currently, we are looking toward a book publication centered around folklore in the age of AI, the Field, Trust OS, the Decision Stack, the Meaning Layer, and Protocol Publishing.
The questions this book addresses have not yet closed into a single answer.
What does humanity observe in an era where AI provides the answers?
What significance is there in refraining from immediate judgment?
Why do the small fragments of local regions and daily life connect to institutional design?
In an age where generative AI produces an abundance of content, where does human interpretation remain?
And what should society forget, and what should it preserve?
The writings and records on this site serve as materials for that book, and at the same time, represent the book itself that has already begun.

SHIRO & Co.
Kosuke Shirako
My work is to give names to things that do not yet have them.
The unspoken values resting within organizations.
The tangible presence dwelling in small regional practices.
The lingering intuition felt by humans before AI generates an answer.
The voices before they are shaped into institutions.
The expressions before they are absorbed by the market.
The thoughts before they are forgotten.
I observe, archive, and edit these fragments, converting them into forms that resonate with society.
Marketing, PR, branding, AI, regional communities, publishing, folklore, and institutional design.
Connecting these seemingly disparate domains into a single, cohesive context lies at the heart of SHIRO & Co.’s activities.
